Rep. McBride on the Anniversary of Dobbs v. Jackson
Washington, D.C. — Today, Delaware’s Congresswoman Sarah McBride (D-DE) released a statement marking the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s disastrous ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization—a decision that overturned Roe v. Wade and stripped away the constitutional right to abortion, abandoning nearly 50 years of legal precedent.
“Today marks three years since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade—a decision that stripped away the constitutional right to abortion and unleashed a patchwork of abortion bans across the United States,” said Rep. McBride.
“As we’ve seen, there have been deadly consequences for women following the Dobbs decision—the maternal mortality rate doubling in states that don’t protect abortion. And it didn’t just restrict access to abortion nationwide—it opened the door to criminalize doctors for providing reproductive care.
“I'm proud that my home state of Delaware will remain a safe haven for reproductive freedom. But millions of people in other states are living in fear—forced to cross borders for care, faced with the inability to family plan, or left without care entirely.
“I won’t stop fighting until every person—no matter where they live—has the freedom to make their own health care decisions.”
As a State Senator, Rep. McBride worked alongside colleagues in the Delaware General Assembly to protect and expand access to reproductive health care for Delawareans, protecting patients and providers. In the 119th Congress, she is a co-sponsor of key legislation to safeguard and expand reproductive freedom, including the Stop Comstock Act, Access to Reproductive Care for Servicemembers Act, Reproductive Rights are Human Rights Act of 2025, My Body, My Data Act, Ensuring Women’s Right to Reproductive Freedom Act, and the Women’s Health Protection Act.
